Density Matrix Expansion for Low-Momentum Interactions

چکیده

A first step toward a universal nuclear energy density functional based on lowmomentum interactions is taken using the density matrix expansion (DME) of Negele and Vautherin. The DME is adapted for non-local momentum-space potentials and generalized to include local three-body interactions. Different prescriptions for the three-body DME are compared. Exploratory results are given at the Hartree-Fock level, along with a roadmap for systematic improvements within an effective action framework for Kohn-Sham density functional theory.

Hartree Fock Calculations in the Density Matrix Expansion Approach

The density matrix expansion is used to derive a local energy density functional for finite range interactions with a realistic meson exchange structure. Exchange contributions are treated in a local momentum approximation. A generalized Slater approximation is used for the density matrix where an effective local Fermi momentum is chosen such that the next to leading order off-diagonal term is ...

Free Expansion of Impenetrable Bosons on One-dimensional Optical Lattices

We review recent exact results for the free expansion of impenetrable bosons on onedimensional lattices, after switching off a confining potential. When the system is initially in a superfluid state, far from the regime in which the Mott-insulator appears in the middle of the trap, the momentum distribution of the expanding bosons rapidly approaches the momentum distribution of noninteracting f...

Studying the Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Polymer Nanocomposites Reinforced with Montmorillonite Nanoparticles Using Micromechanics Method

In this study, the mechanical and thermal behavior of the nano-reinforced polymer composite reinforced by Montmorillonite (MMT) nanoparticles is investigated. Due to low cost of computations, the 3D representative volume elements (RVE) method is utilized using ABAQUS finite element commercial software. Low density poly ethylene (LDPE) and MMT are used as matrix and nanoparticle material, respec...

One-particle density matrix and momentum distribution function of one-dimensional anyon gases

We present a systematic study of the Green functions of a onedimensional gas of impenetrable anyons. We show that the one-particle density matrix is the determinant of a Toeplitz matrix whose large N asymptotic is given by the Fisher-Hartwig conjecture. We provide a careful numerical analysis of this determinant for general values of the anyonic parameter, showing in full details the crossover ...

Neutron matter at finite temperature

The nuclear equation of state plays a central role in the physics of neutron stars and core-collapse supernovae. Renormalization group methods coupled with effective field theory offer a systematic approach to nuclear matter: For low-momentum interactions Vlow k with cutoffs around 2 fm−1, the strong short-range repulsion in conventional nucleon-nucleon (NN) interactions and the tensor force ar...
